Off-Season Update (9/1/2010)

Free Agency is on going, I have signed players to their new teams who have signed as of Wednesday morning.
There are teams over the cap:
Anaheim - 59,200,000 (1.2 million over)
Columbus - 59,200,000 (1.2 million over)
Dallas - 58,050,000 (50k over lol)
Montreal - 60,775,000 (2.775 million over)
Nashville - 60,600,000 (2.6 million over)
New Jersey - 64,050,000 (6.05 million over)The goal is to have the draft completed by this weekend. I have given James full control to do whatever it takes to get the draft done as I am away from Friday to Monday.
Please make your captains picks on the forum under the proper thread in the General Discussion board.
Hoping to do another training camp/re-rate etc. update tomorrow to get caught up once again.
There is still a number of housekeeping items to take care of. That includes updating the record books and stuff, team pages, GM info... finding a Phoenix GM! If anyone has someone interested please get them in contact with me.
Really once the draft is done, we are only a week or so away from begining Season 9. Things took a lot longer this year than anticipated but if we continue to work together and get things done as fast as we can, the season won't be too much longer. I am hoping to have quite a bit of time during the next week to continue doing updates. It is back to school but I have a number of long breaks during each day which I will spend doing NSHL stuff.
I am not sure what to do with prospects
League Announces Cap Restructure
![]()
Okay guys, after flipping through finances, talking to GM's, taking suggestions and thinking things through, there is going to be a restructuring of our salary cap system.
Note: We are now using Pro-Payroll to determine your cap hits.
New Salary Cap - $58 million dollars
New Salary Floor - $40 million dollars
Farm Salary Cap - $2 million dollars*
*Subject to potential change before season begins as I haven't completely thought it through
To calculate your cap hit, check the pro-payroll under your teams finances page.
To calculate the farm cap hit, check the farm-payroll under your team finances page.
Farm Rules:
*Subject to change as I haven't completely thought it through
- A player making any more than $2 million dollars cannot be on the farm
- Exception to the $2 million rule is if your purpose is to place a player on waivers
- If they clear, you must either buy-out the contract or send them back to the pro roster within 24 hours of clearing
Cap Violations:
- A 'Salary Cop' will be hired to overlook finances and discipline those who break the rules. I have a name in mind, I will consult them at a later time.
- GM will have 24 hours to fix the problem
- Suspension of top player indefinitely until problem is fixed
- If problem isn't fixed after 10 games player could be subject to league auction where highest bidder can acquire the player
- Exceptions to the cap are injuries and suspensions. Anything day-to-day or longer is exempt from the pro-payroll
Other Violations:
- Those caught using 19 skaters for a total of 21 players in a game will be punished through fines and possible player suspensions if the problem persists.
- Teams must always have 20 able-to-play players on their rosters at all times. Those circumventing the cap by using 19 players will be fined.
- *Note that I am okay with teams dressing 17 skaters in a game, but would rather you all dress 18 skaters, even if it means player X gets 0 mins of ice time in a game.
I should note in bold that right now everyone's pro-payroll is overstated by the 0-year contracts. It is up to you and your basic math skills to figure out your cap room and spend accordingly this upcoming UFA season.NSHL Entry Draft Begins
